random musings from the daily life of brito

all moved in

well… all my “stuff” is here at least. I still have plenty of unpacking to do, and then the cleaning that follows. This should keep me busy for most of the week.

Friday night Dad came down to DE to move up my small bed and psuduo desk. I decided to spend the night in the living room on the floor as I did not think it made too much sense to drive back to NJ that night only to wake up and drive back here in the morning. Needless to say I did not have any food in the apartment yet, so I basically had to hunt for a supermarket in the AM. Exploring new places is always fun, but not when your hungry… then your on a mission and you have to find something quickly. Luckly there is an ACME down the street, so all was well there.

Mom and Kevin came down Saturday with the rest of my stuff, including my amazing bed. The rest of the day was spent unloading and shopping. Sunday was more shopping and unpacking. My bedroom is pretty much 99.9% done. I just have some pictures to hang and organize. Somehow in the process I managed to lose my birth certificate, which I need to travel in two weeks. Once again I get to worry that someone is going to try and pass themselves off as me and do who knows what. Hopefully its just at the bottom of some box hidden away only to be found ten years later.

The plan for the current week was to stay over in Delaware Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night. I was just trying to save the commute and drop it from 80 miles to only 30. However after work today I got to Jessies and found no one to be there. I then realized that the place had no food, no TV, no internet, no books, no AC and no bed for me to sleep on. I promptly packed up the rest of my things and loaded them into the car. I’m not back in my apartment. I figured if I was going to be lonely I might as well be comfortable. I can deal with the commute for three more days.

nerves & excitement

Tomorrow is the big day, the start of the move to Philly. I say start becuase its going to take almost a week for me to be fully settled there. I’m going up tomorrow evening with Dad to move all my stuff from Delaware. That night I’m going back to Jersey to wake up early Saturday to bring my awesome bed and everything else to Philly. At that point all my stuff will be there, but I’m still working at ‘The Bank’ until the 3rd. So I’m going to stay in Delaware for three more days (with nothing but an overnight bag.) Finally on the 3rd I’m back in Philly and I have a week before I have to leave for my month long training in Florida…

Maybe I made a mistake and I should just live in a car. I spend most of my time there anyway.

:)!

almost there

Filed under: general, life, work, rowing

and productive at that…

This week has been very productive, I’m getting everything in order before the move to the Big Boy House (apartment.) I’ve gotten my renters insurance (waste of money) as well as my quotes for car insurance. I have my dates for travel (August 14th - September 8th). I will be back in Philly for the weekend of the 25th/26th, and I will be in Miami for Sept. 1st to the 5th. I’ll be in Orlando training the rest of the time.

I gave my notice to the bank today, all thats left is for me to tell my boss. I figured HR would want to know first, and I needed to know what I needed to finish up before the end of my internship. My boss should be okay with it, although I’m sure there are comments yet to be made to make me feel uncomfortable. It’s okay, I don’t have to see them again.

I was swindled into rowing today. My coach needed an extra rower and coxwain today, so who gets stuck with the duty. Why, Leitz and myself, because were too stupid/nice to say no like everyone else. Let’s just say seven weeks of not doing something makes you a bit rusty.

birthday questions

It’s the same thing every birthday, you know, the questions like “So how’s it feel to be x years old…” What do people expect me to answer, oh well I feel sooo old and tired…? No, you feel the same as you did yesterday. Theres nothing to celebrate being 22 for, except maybe that your starting your “real life” and only have to wait three more years until you can rent a car.

Birthday dinner was good times. We went to Home Grown, which changed their menu again (basically just making everything more expensive.) They still had the Black & White chicken I love, as well as the most amazing spinich artichoke dip in the whole world.

Tonight we’re celebrating Tuiach’s 21st so this should make for an obviously sloppy night.

paranoid conspiracy theory

Okay Pottery Barn, I’m scared. Stop.

I swear to whatever diety that Pottery Barn is stalking me. I have moved to four different addresses in the past year. They have managed to send me a “Welcome to the Neighborhood” letter each time. This latest one is the scariest, as I never even listed this address as an address anywhere. I’m only living here temporarily, and they know, they found me, they sent the letter. I’m truly in fear. I think they put a chip in me.

Is four letters enough to sue to get a restraining order?

training

Training at ‘The Firm’ starts on August 14th and runs until September 22nd. I’m kind of shocked that it is six weeks long. I really figured it would be about five weeks, with one week in Philly and four in Florida. This is going to end up being one week in Philly with six in Florida. I’m going to be living there, in a hotel. I’m going to have to get a hobby, besides drinking that is.

Is there rowing in Orlando?

express pants

Not really sure what my issue is here… I can’t seem to purchase the correct pair of pants from express. Everytime I go, I find something I like, I try it on, I buy it. Then it dosn’t fit when I get home. I mean… my ass looks good but the pants are too short. Too much sock is showing. Very upsetting.
