peta : thanksgiving edition

PETA has made an awesome parody of the game Cooking Mama, Cooking Mama : Mama Kills Animals : The Unauthorized PETA edition. While I do not agree in whole with PETA’s principles and methods, I do find some of the things they do to be utterly hilarious.

The objective of the game is to cook a Thanksgiving dinner the bloody (PETA) way. First you defeather the turkey, then you stuff him and cook him in the oven. Finally, you use the innards to make a gruesome gravy. The game isn’t entirely true to life, last I checked eggs don’t bleed when you crack them open, but it’s still pretty fun and a good way to kill (pun intended) some time this thanksgiving.

As a follow up to an earlier post about KFC, I found this game which is a lot less bloody than the above.

new tires

Yesterday I dropped my car off for state inspections. As expected, the tires on my car were totally screwed up. They were so bad that I actually failed inspection on the front two (they were worn to the tred bar.) This also resulted in my alignment being complete screwed up. So, I had to replace all four tires for a larger sum of money than anticipated… is it really worth spending money on a car you drive less than 3.5k miles a year… sigh…

new blackberry

Just ordered the Blackberry Storm which will mark my return to Verizon Wireless (due in large part to customer service and quality issues at my last carrier.) I have a faster 3G network and fancy touchscreen to look forward to. I’ve been reading some mixed reviews. Once it arrives I’ll be sure to post my thoughts.

american car commercials

I am writing a longer post on this but, for the time being:

I just saw a commercial for Dodge. The commercial was advertising a minivan, two trucks and an suv. These companies just don’t get it…

car batteries are expensive

Around 1pm I decided it was time to go for my weekly supermarket run. I went out to my car, and click click click, was the sound of it not starting. Ugh. I had to rouse the roommate and get out the jumper cables. After a few minutes of trying to remember the order to connect everything in we started his car and then attempted to start mine. click click click. So we decided to leave it for a few minutes. After about 20 minutes and a few attempts, I realized that the battery was probably too far gone to save and I would have to find another one.

Around 4:30 I got a ride to Pep Boys and purchased a brand new $90 Energizer battery. Now, they sell batteries for about $40, however my car had to be a V6. I got the new battery home only to find out after thirty minutes of trying that I do not have a tool long enough to remove the screw at the bottom of the old battery holding it in place. Ugh.

At this point I seriously considered just giving up on my car and bumming rides for a few weeks. Then someone reminded me that I have AAA and I pay them good money. After a quick phone call I get them to agree to come out to the apartment, however they will not install the battery I purchased, I will have to buy one from them. Fine, just come out here.

After the poor guy got lost for a good hour, he finally found my place and took a look at the car. Then he asked me to show him the battery I bought and offered to install it if I didn’t “tell AAA.” No problem. The guy got it in the car in about 10 minutes and the thing runs fine.

head of the schuylkill

Nothing like finding out you are rowing in a Regatta in three weeks. And that you should have been training this entire time. And you will not be able to practice with the team until ten minutes before the race… This should go real well…

lost!

I some how managed to lose both my livestrong bracelet and SJL Rowing bracelet between last night and this morning. I realized this around 8am and completely freaked. It’s funny how if you don’t have something on your body that you have had for the past five or six years, you feel completely naked.

After frantically searching my home and car I decided that I had to retrace the steps of my cycling adventure yesterday. Around 8pm I started to wander around my parking lot and found the two bracelets covered in what looked like “got run over by many cars” soot.

Yay!
